This position is one of two approved leadership positions assigned to the Chief of Staff Office. The assignment of clinical services/areas of oversight and supervision will be determined based upon the organizational needs and are subject to change. The Deputy Chief of Staff may be responsible for supervision of clinical and/or administrative staff members as required by competing priorities and organizational growth. The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for acting in the absence of the Chief of Staff and in that capacity executing decisions, actin plans and directives with the scope of services available. The incumbent is responsible for management of both financial and human resources assigned Chief of Staff Office. The incumbent must possess the strong interpersonal skills, be creative and can be flexible and adaptable, to successfully coordinate and integrate programs into a continuous comprehensive package of services to meet the needs of veterans. In carrying out these duties the Deputy Chief of Staff will be required to travel between the main campus and the outlying CBOCs within the primary service area, when necessary. The incumbent shares the responsibility for the overall planning, implementation, evaluation and process improvement of both the clinical and administrative services aspects for assigned services. The Deputy Chief of Staff is accountable for establishing productive relationships with the medical staff; other clinical and administrative services and external to the organization resources. In addition, the incumbent must be responsive to the clinical needs of the veteran community while navigating the organization's scope of care. The incumbent demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex systems across the facility. The incumbent provides technical and administrative supervision to the staff within the section. Plans work operations and makes changes in the organization or scheduling of work within allowable costs and established policies to meet program goals, objectives, and priorities. Coordinates inpatient and outpatients operations Continuous improvement processes in medical education, utilization management, and timely discharges; conducts business analyses to demonstrate best practices for patient flow; assists with teaching residents and medical students; works with ancillary support services to assure 24/7 coverage and works closely with QSV on quality measures. Provides leadership in determining allocation of resources (financial, human, material, and/or informational) based on patient care systems that produce high quality outcomes As a physician leader, the DCOS will assist the Chief of Staff in being a champion of the Service Standards Coordinates and integrates clinical and support programs to meet the needs of veterans; ensuring medical staff compliance with regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, Joint Commission standards, performance measures and all other appropriate regulations related to clinical activities Conducts clinical interventions to facilitate the identification and treatment of medical issues. Works with the Chief of Staff to lead hospital-wide efforts to educate and improve performance in clinical quality and access performance indicators, initiating deep dives and leading process improvement activities Works closely with the Clinical Services to provide the improvement in clinic management Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Reference:

Pre-placement physical examination will be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates. The examination will be concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and will include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies. Physician applicants must have the mental and physical ability to perform core privileges required by the specialty position in addition to any specialty privileges requested. Physical demands of this position involve primarily walking, talking, use of telephone/computers, etc. Strenuous physical activity is not required although the incumbent is expected to withstand pressure and stress as part of their day-to-day activity.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
