Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Chief)

Duties include:
-Supervising and performing Executive Career Field performance appraisals for the CT Section Supervisor, MRI Section Supervisor, IR Section Supervisor and the General Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor and performing 2nd level supervisory responsibilities of all Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists; -Recommending promotions, reassignments or other status changes of assigned personnel and resolving informal complaints of employees within the Service; Participating in human resources activities to include selection of new employees, setting performance standards, conducting semiannual evaluations and counseling employees whose performance is marginal or unsatisfactory; -Ensuring annual competency reviews are performed and documented in accordance with Joint Commission guidelines; Planning work schedules to assure an even flow and distribution of work; explaining work requirements and assigning work, accounting for weekend and evening shifts; setting deadlines and priorities; developing operating instructions; identifying equipment requirements; recommending methods to improve work quality and productivity; reviewing work; -Directing on-the-job training; Conferring with radiologists to develop standard and non-standard exam protocols; Coordinating quality assurance activities which includes routine audits and reports of the quality of care provided in all sections; Correcting deficiencies identified during on-site inspections; -Providing guidance and an operational framework for the subordinate supervisors, fostering team building as well as individual initiative and commitment to providing high level care; Monitoring job performance of technical staff, applying appropriate leadership techniques to achieve a desired level of competence and productivity; -Developing, updating and communicating SOPs and policies to achieve goals of quality and efficiency; Working with the Imaging Service PACS Administrator and QM staff to ensure monitoring indicators for technical/clinical image quality are in place; Researching and developing appropriateness criteria, performing utilization audits and developing methods to promote optimal utilization of imaging resources; Utilizing CPRS, VISTA, VISTA RAD, PACS and other programs to perform reviews that enable correlation of patient information such as diagnoses, treatment/ outcomes and imaging results. M-F; 8AM-4:

United States Citizenship:

Applicants appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English. Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR ARRT CERTIFICATION. Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. Experience is only creditable if it was earned after completion of the basic certification requirements. Grade Determinations:
For the GS-12 level, candidates MUST have one full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates
Experience:
1) providing guidance and an operational framework for subordinates and fostering team building; 2) assisting in the evaluation and planning of radiologic technology services for the most complex cases; and 3) assisting in identifying and implementing methods for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of radiologic technology services at the facility. The candidate must also demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment-specific KSAs designated by an asterisk ( ):
a. Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties, including responsibility for assignment of work performed; performance evaluations; recommendations for appointments, awards, advancements, and, when appropriate, disciplinary actions; and identification of continuing education and training needs; b. Ability to serve as a consultant to other facility personnel in evaluating and planning radiologic technology services for the most complex cases; c. Ability to participate in research studies and/or as a consultant to others conducting research; d. Ability to consult with staff and resident physicians through patient presentation, attending ward rounds, and specialty clinics and/or conferences, etc.; and e. Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate the delivery of radiologic technology services at the facility. References:

VA experience and COR II certification are strongly preferred. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12. Physical Requirements:
There is a combination of potentially extended periods of standing, walking and lifting of 15 pounds. Incumbent must be able to travel to the distant areas with ease
