Screens calls and visitors to the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, directing to staff members those contacts requiring attention or knowledge of programs or operations. Maintains supervisors' and pathology management calendar and schedules appointments based on knowledge of supervisors' interests and commitments. Receives and reviews classified and unclassified correspondence for the service, determine proper action, at times preparing answers before referring to the supervisors. Reviews outgoing correspondence and reports ensuring proper format, correctness of detailed information, correct grammatical content, and determining that all necessary information has been coordinated and is in accordance with established policy. Receives, researches, and crafts responses to congressional inquiries from the Director's Office, per formatting guidelines of said Office. Establishes and maintains suspense control records on correspondence, recurring and non-recurring reports and other action documents.Maintains calendar; schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, schedules conference rooms. Serves as Primary Timekeeper, coordinates and assists with timekeeping issues throughout Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. Shares in the responsibility for public relations through direct personal contact with patients and their families, veterans, veteran organizations, community groups, local, state and federal facilities. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
utilizing a variety of office automation software, scheduling appointments, screening calls and visitors, crafting responses to inquiries, establishing and maintaining suspense control records on correspondence. In addition to meeting experience requirements, applicants for this position must certify they possess a 40 words per minute typing speed. The work is sedentary. The employee sits at a comfortable, well-lit, climate controlled work-station. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
